Another Highway Upgrade

Sounds like they’ll soon complete a new section of highway that will make the trip from Guadalajara to Playa Las Tortugas a little faster.

The very curvy, time-consuming, and dangerous section of road from Compostela to Las Varas will now be replaced with a new toll highway. This promises to shave 25 minutes off the drive to Guadalajara, which currently takes about 3 hours and 55 minutes. So, it should now take about 3 1/2 hours. As we found when they opened the new highway between Las Varas and Puerto Vallarta, it’s not just speed that improves, but also predictability with fewer accidents and random slow-downs.

The new section of highway is expected to be open by April 1, 2024.
