New Highway Means More Sunsets

Big news, the new highway connecting Puerto Vallarta to Las Varas is now complete!

It took 11 years, but they finally did it! We watched patiently as they undertook this huge engineering project, often as we sat behind a heavy, slow-moving truck.

We have driven the new highway several times and find it’s about 30 minutes quicker to get to/from the Puerto Vallarta Airport from Playa Las Tortugas. We also love that the predictability of the drive time is much better, so we can all reduce the “buffer time” we add to our trips, not to mention less stress!

Most importantly, it makes it much easier to fly into Puerto Vallarta and make it to Playa Las Tortugas in time for the sunset!
