Playa Las Tortugas Weather in February
The weather in February in Playa Las Tortugas is delightful with a winter climate best described as Mediterranean. There is virtually no rain and 90% of the days have abundant sunshine. It cools off at night as the air comes down from the Sierra Madre mountains. You can even wear a long sleeve shirt. This is a great time to be in this region of Mexico.
Expect daytime temperatures to be around 80°F (26°C) and the water to be about 75°F (24°C). At night the temperature will likely be around 65°F (18°C) in the mid to upper. The winds are generally light. This is quite a contrast to our deep, tropical weather in August.
The weather in February in Playa Las Tortugas causes two very special things to happen. You may see humpback whales breaching in the distance. While the whales are far out on the water, you can see them from the shore. The whales travel here to give birth in the warm waters. You can hire a panga to take you out for a closer look. The second amazing event is bioluminescence. It’s possible in February that the weather conditions are just right to cause the bioluminescence to appear in the ocean. You can see it where the waves break and as you walk in the sand you’ll see your footprints light up. Amazing.
The weather in Playa Las Tortugas in February contrasts with the cold that most people are experiencing in the US and Canada in February. Which makes it all feel just that much more pleasant.
